What OpenAI currently confirms
OpenAI's 1-800-ChatGPT help page says ChatGPT is available again on WhatsApp in the European Economic Area. It lists the verified contact as +1-800-242-8478, says availability is based on the WhatsApp number's country code, and notes gradual rollout and usage limits.
Use that official page to verify the contact. The statement does not establish that every number outside the EEA works, or that being physically in Europe is sufficient. If your number is not eligible, ChatGPT's own app and website are separate ways to use ChatGPT.
Historical reports about the January 2026 interruption explain why older instructions disagree. For today's setup, follow the current provider guidance rather than treating an old country list as permanent.
Is this the same as texting a ChatGPT dot?
