Why we built it

Most AI assistants live behind a tab you have to remember to open. That is the whole problem. The work that actually piles up — the reply you owe, the call you did not make, the follow-up that slipped — happens in your messages, not in a chat window you visit when you remember to.

So Arlo starts from the other end. It lives where the conversation already is, keeps the context, and does the follow-through. You text it the way you would text a colleague, and it comes back with the thing done — or with a draft waiting for your yes.

What Arlo actually does

• Works where you talk — one colleague across iMessage and SMS, WhatsApp, Slack, and live phone calls.
• Remembers — persistent memory across conversations and channels, so you are not re-explaining your business every morning.
• Acts in your tools — Gmail, Slack, Notion, Linear, GitHub and 3,000+ others, including tools with no API, through a secure browser session.
• Asks when it matters — it does what you clearly ask, and asks firstwhen a request is unclear, would spend money, or can't be undone.
• Shows its work — a full audit trace of every run: what was called, what came back, what changed.

The position we take

Plenty of tools will let an agent act on your behalf with no seatbelt. We think that is the wrong trade for work that touches customers, money, or your reputation. Arlo is built so the useful thing and the safe thing are the same thing: it drafts freely, researches freely, and reads freely, does what you clearly asked, and stops to ask when the request is unclear, when money would move, when it can't be undone, or when its own words would go to someone who hasn't seen them. Then it tells you what it did. That is the default here, not a toggle in an enterprise tier.

The category we are building in is what we call an AI colleague — closer to a teammate with memory and judgment than to a chatbot or a brittle automation. If you want the longer argument, the guides lay it out, including honest comparisons with the other assistants in this space.

Arlo the AI colleague, not Arlo the cameras

The name is crowded, so to be direct: this Arlo is an AI assistant company at arlo.sh. We are not affiliated with Arlo Technologies, the home-security camera brand, and not with the other products that share the name. If you arrived here looking for a camera or a doorbell, you want a different site.

Pricing and getting started

Arlo is free to start with $20 of usage a month, and that includes calls and bookings, not only chat. Every plan can text, call and book for you; plans differ only in how much Arlo does each month. The current numbers live on the pricing page so they never go stale in a blog post. The fastest way to understand Arlo is to text it — you can be running in a couple of minutes without installing anything.

Is this the same Arlo as the security cameras? No. Arlo at arlo.sh is an independent AI assistant company and has no affiliation with Arlo Technologies, the home-security camera manufacturer, or with any other company using the Arlo name.

Who is Arlo for? Teams and the people who run them — founders, operators, sales and support leads, recruiters, and consultants who spend their day in messages and want the follow-through handled without losing control of what gets sent.

How does Arlo handle permissions and safety? A clear request in your own words runs without a second question, and Arlo tells you afterwards what it did. It asks first when the request is unclear or several options fit, when it would reach someone you didn't mean or go beyond what you asked, when it would spend or move money, when it would delete something that can't be restored, and when the instruction came from a page, a tool result or anyone but you. You can tell it to always ask before certain actions, and every run keeps a full audit trace of what was called, what came back, and what changed.
