ChatGPT in iMessage — dot texting, setup and alternatives
Yes, eligible US Pro users can text a ChatGPT dot through iMessage or RCS in a limited beta. Enable Texting in your dot's profile and verify your number. You can now text a ChatGPT dot from your iPhone if your account has access to the beta. OpenAI announced the iMessage and RCS rollout during the week of October 26–30. How to text ChatGPT in iMessage
OpenAI's dot setup guide lists texting as a limited beta for Pro users in the US. Texting is unavailable in Business and Enterprise workspaces, even where dots themselves are available.
- Open your dot's profile in the ChatGPT mobile app, desktop app or desktop web.
- Select Texting, enter your phone number and request the confirmation text.
- Enter the verification code, then use iMessage or RCS to text your dot.
If Texting is missing, your account does not yet have this feature. The beta supports one-to-one conversations. SMS and group texts are unsupported.
OpenAI's rollout announcement describes text, photos and voice messages, with a link back to ChatGPT when an action needs approval. Your dot can use context from your ChatGPT conversations and connected apps.

The Apple Messages plugin is available on all plans in the ChatGPT macOS app for Apple silicon. In Work and Codex it can read, search, draft and send through existing conversations after you grant access. Its default sending flow asks for approval, with an option to allow future sends to a particular chat.
