Turn messages into tasks and reminders without losing context
Send Arlo the relevant message and ask it to extract one clear action, keeping the details needed to finish it. Review the task, date, time zone and reminder channel, then save it. Arlo works through Messages, WhatsApp and Slack, so you can send or forward the relevant message from a channel you already use.
"Can you get this back to me by Friday?" leaves out what "this" means when you read the reminder later. Save enough context to finish the job.
Send Arlo the relevant message and ask it to pull out one clear action. You get a task you can understand later, with the original request’s important details. Review it before saving; the reminder guide covers scheduling and delivery.
Extract the action before choosing a reminder
| What the message contains | What to save | What to clarify |
|---|---|---|
| A request with a deadline | A concrete action and due date | Exact date and time zone |
| Information you need later | A reference attached to a task | Whether any action is required |
| A repeating obligation | A recurring task with its rule | Next occurrence and end condition |
| A possible appointment change | A task to request alternatives | Whether a change is authorized |
For messages with several requests, review the possible actions and choose one. Save "Send Sam the signed venue form" with the relevant source attached where supported.
Use a brief you can review
An illustrative source message: "Please send the revised quote by Friday. Include the delivery fee."
An illustrative instruction: "Extract one proposed task. Friday means 6 November 2026. Propose a 9am Europe/Rome reminder in Messages. Show the task before saving. Do not reply."
An illustrative extraction: Action: send the revised quote. Owner: you. Constraint: include the delivery fee. Deadline: 6 November 2026; time unspecified, needs confirmation. Proposed reminder: 6 November 2026 at 9am Europe/Rome, through Messages. Status: proposed; task not saved; no reply sent.
These examples are not customer messages or completed outcomes. Supply the quote reference if needed; do not invent an address or attachment.
Review the date, channel and next occurrence
Replace relative dates in older messages with calendar dates: "tomorrow" may have passed. Distinguish the deadline from the reminder: a form due at 5pm might need a reminder at 10am.
Give a time zone. For repeating tasks, read the next occurrence back as a full date and time. "Every first Monday" and "every four weeks" produce different schedules. Ask what happens after a missed occurrence.
Confirm where the reminder will arrive. Check whether the assistant saved the task, scheduled the reminder, or still needs information. Keep your existing reminder until unclear confirmation is resolved.
Start with the message you already have
You can send the request through iMessage, SMS or WhatsApp, or use Slack for work. Arlo receives what you send to its thread. Connecting an email account or other source is a separate choice; forwarding one request does not open your other conversations.
Share the part needed to define the task. If the message asks to move a booking, use the rescheduling brief before authorizing changes. Check pricing for current Arlo allowances.
Start free with Arlo. Paste the request and ask for one proposed task with its deadline and a reminder. Keep the context that will help you finish it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I turn one text into a reminder? Yes. Provide the relevant text and specify the action, reminder date, time zone and supported delivery channel. Review the confirmation.
Does forwarding a message connect my inbox? No. Providing a message is different from authorizing an inbox or history connector. Arlo only receives what you send to its thread unless you separately connect tools.
What if the message has no deadline? Ask for a proposed task without inventing one. Choose a reminder time yourself or leave the task undated where supported.
How do I check a recurring task? Verify the recurrence rule, next full date, time zone, channel and stopping condition. Correct the schedule before relying on it.
